The Story of Abben:

    From birth, Abben was raised as a guardswoman for the Bird Monks. Her life, for the most part, was one of peace and prosperity, her attitude one of optimism and satisfaction, with just a bit of competition. She was renowned for her skill with the bow, which was beyond that of most other initiates, and was elevated to a high rank. She became highly popular among the other guardsmen and women, maintaining connections that helped her to rise in her rank. Eventually, she was even put above the entire system of guards protecting the Elixir of Life and the Spear of Shadow's Bane. 

    That all changed when one of her closest friends, StinkBird, drank the Elixir of Life that he was supposed to be guarding and was kicked out of the Monestary. She maintained connections with him in his exile while concealing her inner anger at him for his sin. Eventually, when he was called back to the Monestary to help retrieve Elixir of Life from King Zowizu who had recently stolen it, Abben volunteered to work with StinkBird. She began to grow closer to him, and to see the good person that StinkBird tried hard to hide within himself. Due to her anger at him, though, she didn't let herself grow close to him until after he joined GreatBeasts.

    Once he did so, she began to forgive him as she saw him grow as a person. When the Shadow Infection assailed Wolvennell, Abben stepped up to help StinkBird and the rest of GreatBeasts, despite the orders of the Bird Monks.

    When she returned from her quest, the Shadows of Corruption having been defeated, she challenged the Bird Monks and ultimately drank the Elixir of Life in order to join StinkBird. For the seven years after that, she lived with StinkBird as a new member of GreatBeasts, helping him to become the good person that she saw within him.
