The Story of Dav' Dagon

    Throughout Dav' Dagon's long life, he had spent most of his time leading the SharpHorn sept in war against the other septs. His losses were very few, making him the most notorious general in the world. His advantage was his calm disposition, which was rare among his species. While most were aggressive and easily pushed to anger, Dav' Dagon rarely started any fights, instead choosing to step back and observe the situation. When King Zowizu decided that he needed a general, Dav' Dagon was his first choice.

    In order to convince Dav' Dagon to join him, Zowizu decided to spread incriminating rumors that would destroy Dav' Dagon's reputation and send him out in shame. His chance came when Domique Vacka stole the Shadow's Bane swords from the chief of the SharpHorn sept. Zowizu immediately enacted his plan, blaming their disappearence on Dav' Dagon.

    He was indeed stripped of his rank and sent out to the surface to never again enter the SharpHorn sept. That was when Zowizu pounced.

    Zowizu lavished him in praise, stoking his pride while placing the blame of his exile on the other members of his sept. Dav' Dagon was given wealth, precedence, and glory where his previous position had left him poor and lowly. Zowizu pretended to befriend him, giving him words like candy with his silver tongue, and eventually Dav' Dagon began to believe him. Dav' Dagon became prideful, and as a reward was given control of Zowizu's armies. Soon enough, Dav' Dagon was Zowizu's puppet entirely. As his pridefulness mounted, so did his anger and dissatisfaction in those around him. While he had previously been known for his calm demeanor, he started getting into fights with soldiers that didn't fulfill their jobs correctly. Eventually, he even began killing any disobedient soldiers. All of this delighted Zowizu to no end. 

    When StinkBird and Abben invaded Zowizu's Empire, Dav' Dagon was outraged. Upon hearing of the news, he killed many of the soldiers around him and then decided to confront the two himself, surrounded by a guard of a hundred soldiers.

    He had intended to kill them himself, but upon meeting them, he realized what he had done. Abben's kindness, along with StinkBird's childish antics reminded Dav' Dagon of the world he had left behind. He looked around him and saw a tower of cards. He saw the words he had been fed and the status he had been given were both meaningless, and he saw that he had become a monster.

    He was appalled, and in an attempt to find redemption, sent his soldiers against Zowizu. When they disobeyed him, Dav' Dagon sent himself to die fighting against his own soldiers in order to help StinkBird and Abben. He killed many and in the end did find the redemption he sought. He was bloodied and dying, but in the end, he was satisfied.
