The Story of: Dazar

As the most cunning and ruthless leader of the Marauders, Dazar started out as a soldier and scholar for the League of the Desert. He fought in the same platoon as his lover, a woman named Jez. Together they fought against the Marauders, falling in love over their years of service. In one battle, though, Jez fell to a stray sword.

Dazar was enraged. He cut through the opposing ranks, seeking death. When he found none for himself, he killed his own platoon as well, hoping someone would kill him. None did.

As his anger cooled, he realized what he had done. He fled to join the Marauders, knowing that the League would put him on trial and kill him. His new quest was to do whatever he could to bring back Jez, even if that meant siding with his enemies. He quickly manuevered his way into the position of leader of the Marauders, and began to delve into the dark arts, specifically, he sought the power of necromancy. Through his research he learned about the Shadows of Corruption, and sought to use them for himself. He was unable to find them, though, since they had been trapped by the Undying Phoenix inside of a man named Roguefox.

Dazar's biggest achievement in necromancy was the resurrection of an assassin who had been in the employment of the Kings of ancient Ethosium. A mad assassin named Essaux. Even this, though , was a failure, as the assassin was brought back without even the remnant of a soul, making him a soulless killer for pleasure. Although Essaux frightened him, Dazar employed him as his personal hit-man, not caring the consequences of his own actions.

Deciding that the only true way to bring back Jez was to use the Powers of Wolvennell, Dazar struck at the League of the Desert. He faked them out, using their arrogance from their many wins against themselves. Through this, he managed to clear the walls of the League and defeat them. He killed many of their leaders, personally seeing to the murder of the Leader of the League, Dol' Dominio. Before he could reach the Powers of Wolvennell, though, his base was infilitrated by RogueFox and Par. He had almost forgotten about Par, having sent out Essaux to kill her in order to tie up loose ends.

It was when he was faced by RogueFox that he realized that the power of the Shadows of Corruption was inside of RogueFox. Seeking to use them for himself, he chose to try and manipulate RogueFox into his service. RogueFox, however, resisted and in the end managed to kill Dazar and set free the Shadows of Corruption.

As he died, Dazar realized that he had been wrong all along. The power of necromancy, the Shadows of Corruption, the dark arts, none of it could give him Jez again. In fact, by turning to evil means, he had actually stolen his only hope of returning to Jez after death. Knowing this, he used his final breath as a cry of anguish, wishing he could try one more time.
