The Story of MindShift:

When the Shadows of Corruption were searching for a leader for their army, they decided that ordinary humans weren't enough. Not satisfied with the best generals that led their army, the Shadows of Corruption turned to the biological science that they had so carefully been studying over the previous two thousand years. They decided that the only way to get a truly loyal, highly capable leader for their armies was to make one themselves.

Thus they did, creating MindShift. He was a pseudo-human with extreme intelligence, an immunity to shadow, and an almost endless lifespan. To go along with this, the Shadows of Corruption also decided to gift him with telepathic and telekinetic abilities, allowing him ultimate control of his mind. He was also able to summon any item at will, as long as he concrentrated on its existence. Another of his abilities was that to change and edit the minds of those around him to suit his wishes, as long as their will was weak enough.

He was immediately placed above all of the armies of the Shadows of Corruption, given the task of retrieving the Shadows' Bane weapons. While he sent out small parties of thieves for each of the other Shadows' Bane weapons, he sought to gather Nature's Edge personally. He attracted Wolf to a village controlled by the Shadows of Corruption, attempting to either make him hand over the sword by force, or to subjugate his conscience in order to make him give up the sword. His attempts only managed to bring each of the members of GreatBeasts together against him, though.

While at first he was willing to fight them with his own followers, he contemplated his faction for a while and decided that the mission of the Shadows of Corruption was wrong. Thus, he became a member of GreatBeasts, allowing Selinne to usurp control of the armies. As punishment for his turncoat, the Shadows of Corruption took from MindShift his capacity to experience emotion.

While GreatBeasts eventually defeated the Shadows of Corruption, MindShift was left at a loss. He was the brains behind the organization, giving advice where it was needed, but all he truly wanted was to gain back what he had lost.
