The Chronology of the Universe of Ethos
and the
Stories Within
Just as Azura was the spawn of the Power of Creation, Ryze was created by the Power of Destruction. He was created as her counterpart, just as she was his. While her powers were those of creation, the ability to create matter out of nothing, his powers were those of destruction. Ryze could destroy any matter. This largely manifested as fire, burning through rock and steel without even a trace of smoke or ash, hence his fiery hair.
Just as his powers were the opposite of Azura's, so too was his life. While hers was one of peace to the point of boredom, Ryze was created within the League of the Desert. From creation he was raised to be the perfect soldier, with skills beyond that of the average soldier. Also like Azura, Ryze was afraid of his powers being detected. He did the best he could to hide them, dousing his head in water every morning and sleeping on a bed of sand. The only ones who knew of his abilities were his closest platoon-mates, who did the best they could to help him escape notice. He also refused every offer to move up in ranking, so as to escape the eyes of others. Because of his efficient methods, not even Dol' Dominio, the leader of the League, knew of his abilities.
The largest drawback of his nature, though, was the fact that chaos was drawn to him almost unnaturally. While fights within the League of the Desert were few and far-between, when they did occur, they were usually around Ryze and involving him. Whenever the League had a skirmish with the Marauders, Ryze found himself in the crux of the battle. The thing he desired most was peace, of which he found very little in his life due to his own nature. Eventually, he learned to cope with the chaos of his day-to-day life, but it still wore on him.
Thus he lived his life experiencing very little change even with the rise of RogueFox to the position of leader until the onset of the Shadow Infection. During this time, GreatBeasts was forced to rely heavily on the armies of the League, which meant that Ryze was put at the forefront of a losing battle. His only choice was to reveal his abilities and destroy the forces around him so that he could escape. Doing so, though, revealed him to GreatBeasts, who invited him in as an initiate to help them defeat the Shadows of Corruption. In the end, his powers were a vital part of their final victory over Ultimate Shadow.
Once the Shadow Infection was finished, Ryze asked leave from RogueFox to search out Azura. Once he found her, the two of them lived together for seven years, each finding the happy ending that they had always wanted.
