The Chronology of the Universe of Ethos
and the
Stories Within
The League of the Desert was created to oppose groups that the original founders knew would arise to take hold of the Powers of Wolvennell. Just as they had predicted, several groups did rise up. None, however, were as long-lasting nor as successful as the Marauders.
Roughly two thousand years after the fall of Ethosium, a group numbering exactly one third of the League of the Desert was swept away by the temptation of power, the desire to take the Powers of Wolvennell for themselves. They formed into a band of theives and brutes, led by a circle of the trickiest, most cunning members of their group. Their ultimate purpose was to throw down the Undying Phoenix and take the Powers of Wolvennell for themselves. As far as strength and wits went, though, the Marauders were no match for the League of the Desert, and continuously found themselves on the losing end of the battle.
That was until one man, a deserter from the League of the Desert, joined the cause of the Marauders, quickly rising to become their sole leader. His name was Dazar, and through his quest to bring back his lost lover, he gave the power of the dark arts to the Marauders, helping them to gain strength quickly. He focused on the Shadows of Corruption, trying to use their power as well as his skills in necromancy to bring about victory for both himself and the Marauders. During his reign he sent spies to bring back RogueFox, who held the Shadows of Corruption within him, so that they could be released. He also gave to the Marauders their greatest victory in finally overthrowing the League of the Desert and killing many of the opposing leaders, including Dol' Dominio.
However, he also brought about the most crushing, most fatal defeat to the Marauders, since his efforts caused RogueFox and a deserter from the Marauders named Par to bring down the entirety of the Marauders.
While the reign of the Marauders was short-lived, they were vital in bringing the Shadows of Corruption to power and giving them a more physical form, since they coaxed RogueFox to release the Shadows from himself into the world. Thus, while the effects of the Marauders on the world were few, they did bring about another, more powerful villain to dominate the world.
