The SleekPanther Crew:

James's GreatBeasts name, "SleekPanther," originates from the ship that he was born and raised on: the SleekPanther.

The crew on that ship became his family, his father being Captain David, who ferociously fought other ships allied with the Shadows of Corruption. His first mate, Felix, was a dependable man whose moral compass could never be altered. When Captain David was assassinated by Raeb-Dom, it was Felix who rose to power, becoming a surrogate father for the newly orphaned youth, James. While Felix was the leader for the crew itself, the true moral leader was Wolfgang. He was a man who, while using his words only sparsely, became an example for every other member of the crew. He was the strong-man, and the top fighter of the crew, protecting each of his crewmates. While not in battle, though, he would help the others with their individual problems, which often involved spending the evening laughing over a few drinks with them. Their navigator was a man by the name of Dymond. He always brought the laughter to those around him, not the least of which being those he bartered with or stole from. The real entertaiment of the crew, though, came from Marques, the crew's bard and one of the crew's fighters. He supported all of those around him personally, becoming many peoples' best friends along the way. He played on his guitar from the newest inventors, being that it also served as an axe, and with it, he would make the ship a place of joy. Their second best fighter was a woman named Isabella, who was saved from a dark place by the crew when she was only a young girl. She looked up to Wolfgang as almost a father figure, and learned everything she knew about fighting from him. Henry, their ship's doctor, was frequently described as cold and emotionless to those who didn't know him, but truly he cared deeply about those around him, prefering his own death over those of his shipmates. That was his motivation to become the best doctor in the entire ocean. Finally, the last member of their crew was a woman named Sloane. She often spent time with Henry, and could cook a meal fit for a queen with nothing but the sparsest materials available. In fact, while she didn't frequently talk about her past, she was believed by her crewmates to be from a royal court.

The richest treasure on the ship, though, was the Shadow's Bane sword that was once weilded by Raeb-Dom himself nearly 2,500 years prior. After Captain David and then consecutively Captain Felix were both assassinated by Raeb-Dom with only four years between them, James became enraged. He became the captain, and led the crew on a mission of revenge to get back at Raeb-Dom. He eventually left the crew, taking the Shadow's Bane sword with him, and after slaying Raeb-Dom, he joined the GreatBeasts for four years, until the Shadow Infection. That left Wolfgang as the reluctant leader until James returned to captain the ship until the destruction of Wolvennell.
